PRP Injections for Erectile Dysfunction: What You Should Know

erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to get and keep an erection firm for sexual intercourse. Despite being fairly common–with about 30 million men affected in the United States–it is still a source of insecurity for many. Most men may experience difficulty getting an erection every now and then. However, if it has become an ongoing issue, treatment options are available to you.

The Auxo Clinic provides a few different treatment options for ED, one of which is Platelet-rich plasma (PRP). PRP is a component found in blood used to promote healing and tissue regeneration for the treatment of various conditions. It’s an innovative treatment for ED that has been found to increase circulation in the penis, improving erections.

Learn more about how PRP injections can improve your ED and help you regain confidence.

How It Works

PRP is collected from a small sample of your blood and spun in a centrifuge, which separates the plasma and platelets from the blood. This leaves the plasma with a high concentration of platelets, or PRP.

This is then injected into the shaft and head of your penis, known as a Priapus Shot, often referred to as a P-Shot. No preparation is needed, and your visit will only take about one hour.

PRP is thought to be effective for ED because platelets contain proteins that help speed up healing and are essential for helping your blood clot when you’ve been injured. When used for ED, it may improve blood circulation by improving the health of the blood vessels in the penis.

Are There Any Risks For PRP?

No major adverse effects of PRP have been found; however, research for this treatment is still ongoing.

By speaking with a professional at the Auxo Clinic, you can ensure PRP is the right treatment option for you.

“Finding Dr Michel's office was the best thing that could have happened after being immensely dissatisfied with UCLA and Cedars. I was about to give up and settle into complacency, but Dr Nourian, Lina, and Tony have been incredible. The clinic has a ton of services and the staff is very friendly.”
